History and Methodology

Peak Travel was first established in 1962 by Jack Peak, who after a 19-year tenure at Pan American Airways, decided to fulfill his entrepreneurial dreams and start his own travel agency. Jack’s strong connections within the aviation industry (he was rumored to be friends with Amelia Earhart), allowed him to build a strong client base among corporate and leisure travelers. With its roots in aviation, Jack Peak Travel became one of four major travel agencies in the Bay Area, and one of ten agencies to beta the original computerized reservation systems ultimately used to book airline tickets. With this state of the art technology, the agency secured some major corporate clients including General Electric.

In 1974, Tyler Peak joined his father’s company and was immediately hooked on the business after his first familiarization trip…to the exotic lands of Mexico. In 1981, Tyler took over as President after Jack’s untimely passing and has continued to maintain his father’s emphasis on family values within the company. Tyler takes pride in the fact that several employees have stayed with Peak Travel for over 35 years and he praises the agency’s ability to adapt to modern technology throughout the decades rather than resist it.
